{Transition + Center}

“To be rooted is perhaps the most important and least recognized need of the human soul.”

Namaste Yogi & Yogini’s,

Happy Autumn Equinox!

I love the crisp Autumn air and the nostalgic undertones of the season which always inspire me to pause and take in all of the beautiful colors. Yet, I find that the nature of the season (or my nature!)  is for Autumn to pass by in the blink of an eye!

As we transition into Autumn, we may find ourselves become busier mentally and physically.We start to mourn the Summer sun as we go back to a more routine schedule of school and work. We may even have a hard time adjusting which makes perfect sense; energetically during this time nature goes through a big transition and as we are connected to all- we feel it too.

Summer is expansive,  full of fun and play while Winter, in opposition  is more withdrawn,  inward and contracted. We find ourselves now in Autumn, a transition between two opposites making it a perfect time to find our center, to stand our ground and connect with our roots as everything outside ourselves is in flux, seasonally and socially. During the Autumn months it is important to nurture and nourish ourselves and to find balance and harmonize within.

Our practice on the mat supports this transition by allowing us space to quiet ourselves, stabilize and find our foundation rather than to get swept away in the frenzy.

{Try a few of my favorite Autumn rituals}

Rituals can be a great way to schedule in some YOU time.  Make a daily appointment with yourself  for self care; a time intended to create some space that will add a pause to your day.

A little self care goes a long way. The more we can offer care to ourselves, the more we can offer our care to others.

+Seasonal Mantra: Let go of what no longer serves you. Autumn is the season of grief. Honor what comes up emotionally &      let go of what no longer serves you releasing anything unresolved.

+Neti-Pot: Combat the common cold, sore throat and stuffy noses!

+Moisturize & Harmonize: One of my favorite self care rituals is to add a few drops of essential oil to coconut or sesame oil as  a moisturizer for after a warm shower or bath. I recommend using sesame oil during the Fall and Winter months as it's a  warmer oil and using coconut oil during the spring and summer for it's cooling effects.

 {TRY these Autumn Essential Oils: Cinnamon, Clove, Black Pepper, Ginger, Marjoram; sweet, Thyme.}
