Anxiety therapy with Sonya Sanmateu in PA & NJ

Therapy for Anxiety

I provide online anxiety therapy for adults experiencing chronic stress, persistent worry, and overwhelm.

My approach focuses on helping you better understand the patterns shaping your anxiety, reconnect with your body, and respond to stress in more steady, supportive, and sustainable ways.

I’m based in Bucks County, PA, and provide online therapy to clients across Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York.

You feel stuck in cycles of worry and tension you can’t seem to break.

It can feel difficult to fully relax, slow down, or feel settled within yourself. You may find yourself constantly anticipating what could go wrong, questioning whether you’re doing enough, or feeling pressure around how you’re perceived by others.

Your body may feel tense, restless, or always “on.”

Outwardly, you may appear composed and capable—but internally, there’s pressure, self-doubt, or constant “what if” thinking.

For some, anxiety is closely tied to patterns with food, weight, or body image. If that’s true for you, we can address both the anxiety and the underlying patterns shaping it.

How this might be showing up for you.

  • Feeling constantly on edge, overwhelmed, or unable to fully relax

  • Getting stuck in cycles of overthinking, rumination, or difficulty sleeping

  • Experiencing physical tension—tightness, restlessness, or fatigue

  • Avoiding situations or decisions due to fear or pressure

  • Appearing “fine” while feeling overwhelmed internally

  • Worry about performance, relationships, or the future

  • Feeling more emotionally overwhelmed during periods of transition or uncertainty

Maybe you’ve been noticing that you…

You’re ready for something to feel different.

You want your mind to feel quieter.
Your body to feel less tense and reactive.
And to feel more grounded, present, and connected in your daily life.

You’re not looking for a quick fix—you’re looking for a way to understand your anxiety and respond to it differently.

Here’s what we’ll do together.

Therapy that helps you feel calmer, more confident, and more at home within yourself.

Together, we’ll begin to understand the patterns, experiences, and internal expectations shaping your anxiety and how you respond to stress.

From there, we’ll build more supportive ways of responding—so you’re not just managing anxiety, but relating to it differently.

At times, we may slow things down to notice what’s happening in your body—your breath, tension, emotions, or stress responses—as a way of deepening awareness and creating change.

My work is grounded in evidence-based therapy, helping you develop both deeper self-understanding and practical ways of navigating anxiety in your daily life.

What we will work on:

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

  • Not at all. Many people I work with experience anxiety symptoms—like overthinking, tension, or constant worry—without having a diagnosis. What matters most is how much these experiences are affecting your life and your ability to feel at ease.

  • I work with clients experiencing generalized anxiety, social anxiety, performance-related stress, health anxiety, and chronic worry. Often, these patterns overlap with perfectionism, people-pleasing, or past experiences of high pressure or self-criticism.

  • Together, we’ll look at both the roots and the day-to-day experience of your anxiety—understanding where it comes from while also building practical tools to navigate it. Over time, therapy can help you develop greater self-awareness, resilience, and a more grounded relationship with yourself, so anxiety no longer feels like it’s running your life.
